Tucson Exodus: Douglas

So we got transfer news! Tomorrow I am transferred to Douglas, AZ.
Different from Deming, NM. It is right on the US/Mexico boarder with
Agua Prieta.

Monday: Pday! We all went to an indoor trampoline park to celebrate
some birthdays. It was super fun! Then sports. I also bought a
StarWars onesie with some birthday money. Later, we had a carne asada
dinner/lesson cancel which we were both super pumped about. Our
investigators were going to teach us how to make carne asada and we
were going to help them with their salvation.

Tuesday: Food Bank! Later, we visited a sister in the branch who is
like a grandma to the missionaries. Her name is Hna Ahumada and she is
the one that gave me and Elder Wilstead homemade beanies. Later, we
went to a restaurant with some investigators to celebrate Hermana
Ferwerda's birthday. Then we went to the Ortiz's house and it ended up
in a mordida/cake fight. I left completely clean :)

Wednesday: District Meeting! It went well and it was about teaching
simply for understanding. It was going great! Kinda fell apart and got
out of hand in the role play but we pulled it back together. After, we
interviews with President Passey. He told me everything pertaining to
me with transfers. It was nice! Then he told me about changes for the
Los Reales branch. It is grouping up with the Sahuaro branch and they
are going to be part of another new stake! We recently had a stake
created a little northwest of Tucson in our mission. It is amazing to
see how everything is coming together in prep for the new Temple!
Later, we visited Raquel and shared a message about following the
Spirit. Then we had a first visit with a guy named Diego. He is very
interesting and it somewhat interested. He has an interesting story
and shows great potential! We had dinner with a member, a little
lesson with Victor, then went to the volleyball activity. It was nice
to say goodbye to a few people since I knew I was leaving.

Thursday: Good day at the food bank and it was kinda sad to say
goodbye to all the people there. Later we visited Mario and talked to
him about his progress. Later we had dinner with a member. After we
had a nice lesson with Victor talking with him in prep for the
baptism. Our meeting didn't happen this week then we went to Crisol's
house to talk with her husband and try and open up to the church more.

Friday: Weekly planning! We also went up towards downtown to get keys
from some missionaries. We also stopped for lunch at Chipotle since
there isn't a Chipotle in Douglas... Later we had a lesson with Ivan
then the branch Thanksgiving party! We got calls so I was officially
allowed to tell people I was leaving.

Saturday: Service with Joe then later the adventure of finishing up
preparations for the baptism. We then had a little practice for the
special musical number with other missionaries. It went well! The
baptism was awesome and Victor is amazing! Later, we went to Crisol's
for dinner.

Sunday: Church was awesome! I was asked by Victor to confirm him! Then
I was asked by Ivan to give him the priesthood. It was an awesome day.
Then later we had a lesson with Ivan, dinner with the Ortiz, then
visits to people to say goodbye.

Los Reales has been great but I feel, as with transfers, it is my time
to move on. I am super excited for Douglas!

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving! Eat some turkey for me, have
fun, and be safe!

Love,
Elder Dallin Baker
